Out of sight, out of mourning ©

My heart sank to the ground –

On that fateful day.

Heavy, like lead, she pulled me with her

To the empty caverns above hell

We lay;

Not a whisper,

We listened to the cries above

And the water trickled down

To wash us in its stream,

The source a distant memory

The light a distant fantasy.

When cries turned to rejoice

We lay

Still,

Long forgotten,

Hidden in the caves below

Forever bathing

In the streams that well

In dirty pools, undisturbed,

A nightmare below us

Heaven above

Caught in empty solace

No friend or helping hand

Just a low; and

Soft, loving, gentle beat;

Curled, held within.
