Neighbours are, those next door,
Above, below, on different floor.
Nosey or noisy, unkempt or tidy –
Just like us.
Dawn and dusk a common sight,
Often scraping off the ice,
A knowing nod, gentle wave,
Neighbourly way, to behave.
To meet and greet, see and care
Now and then, gossip to share.
A place to go when in a muddle,
Friendly face, when one’s in trouble.
But, After all is said and done
Neighbours are not just for fun
Security and safety net,
Help live our lives with respect.
