People have faces; CV’s say anything! (Poem with a slight riff!)©

It’s just not good enough

You’re not good enough

Never gonna be enough

I ran a race, I came first,

Smiled and turned, saw second and third

Then the rest, struggle in this test

Behind the best, I self confess,

I came first; and then they said

It’s just not good enough

You’re not good enough

Never gonna be enough

I sat exams, saw sweat on palms,

Completed mine, results just fine,

Some complained, others refrained

They knew the truth and weren’t uncouth

I got more than before, and then they said

It’s just not good enough

You’re not good enough

Never gonna be enough

I went to work, experience, learnt,

Puzzles unravelled, business travel,

Wiped sweat from brow, when others frowned,

Deadlines met, when others left,

But there’s always someone…

It’s just not good enough

You’re not good enough

Never gonna be enough

Now careers change, nobody’s to blame

Qualified under and over, experience lower

But higher than those, who manage the roles

Headaches begin, when job searching

Nothing makes sense, and everything says

It’s just not good enough

You’re not good enough

Never gonna be enough

When did paper decide, how to define

A human soul, that’s worth more than gold,

I have to say, it’s not too late

To change this world, change our roles

But hearing this lonely voice they say

It’s just not good enough

You’re not good enough

Never gonna be enough
