Have mercy on me, for I am not perfect
I’m guilty of believing things no one knows certain:
Lies and deceit, that tripped off the tongues
Friends and deceivers, who all of us stung.
Have mercy on me, for I am alone
Heartbreak and loss slung heavy stone,
Compassion the aid to help in healing
Like Prodigal Son always returning.
Have mercy on me, before I have done it
I may not know you, and you cannot pardon,
Keep in your heart kindness, do not distress
Me, in conflict of morals, it’s easy to transgress.
Have mercy on me, what is wrong and right?
An age old question, man’s perpetual plight;
Nobody can judge or is all knowing
Evidence hard, facts misleading.
Have mercy on me, I mean no harm
I want to assist, not to alarm;
Pain permeates, when handing punishment
Even absent of guilt, I am self repentant.
Have mercy on me, for you it is nothing
A free gift from God, receiver your choosing,
On chest I hold truth, Mercy the pair
To keep them separated – seems tad unfair.
